Do you love Soft Scrub® cleansers but can’t afford to shell out money every couple of weeks for the product? Try this easy to whip up recipe that replicates Soft Scrub®with Baking Soda Cleanser.
It combines tough antibacterial cleaning power through Tea Tree Oil with the natural deodorizing properties of baking soda. It’s hard on grease, grime and soap scum, but soft on the senses with no harsh chemicals or fragrances.
Ingredients and Supplies
¾ cup Baking Soda + a little more if needed to achieve a smooth, creamy consistency once mixed
1/4 cup Castile Soap (I like Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps)
1 tbsp. Water
10-15 drops Tea Tree Oil
1 tbsp. Vinegar
1 emptyLiquid Dish Detergent Container or Plastic Tub With Lid
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the baking soda and castile soap. Add the water and tea tree oil and stir with a fork to mix up.
After all are well combined, slowly add the vinegar. The mixture will bubble up because of the chemical reaction between the baking soda and vinegar. This is normal.
Stir until you achieve a paste-like consistency. You may need to add a little more baking soda if necessary to achieve a smooth, creamy consistency.
Transfer to an empty liquid detergent container or tub with lid. Grab a sponge or rag and start cleaning. Because the chemicals are non-toxic, you can throw your dirty rags into the washing machine and launder as usual.
